(I had this post written and the pictures taken on Friday, but our internet went out and I went back to Iowa on Saturday until today, so I wasn't able to add the pictures to the post and publish it until today)

Connor is 13 months old today (Friday)....and he seems to be getting harder...hmmm...I thought it was supposed to get easier:-) Some things that come to mind:
-he's a crawling fool...he's very fast....he is now doing a weird thing where he puts one leg out like he wants to stand up and crawls like that..it reminds me of a dog that has a cast on his leg...looks funny.
-he has no desire to walk
-he's pulled up to a stand twice..both times in the bathtub (during the same bath) and while I was totally excited for him, I couldn't let him stand there, as that would be a safety hazard, as he would surely fall down, so I had to sit him back down.
-to get my attention he head butts me in the leg
-he eats NOTHING
-he drinks ONLY water from his sippy cups
-I am torn about weaning him...on one hand, we are entering possibly the most frightening of flu seasons (with both seasonal flu and H1N1), so I feel that nursing him is giving him some added protection, plus, he won't drink anything else from a cup and I don't feel good about only giving him water, plus, he doesn't eat anything, so just water would not sustain him for very long, plus, he just may be my last baby and he's the 1st one that nursing has been easy with. On the other hand, I'm tired, I'd like to be able to go somewhere without worrying if he'll get enough to eat; I'd like to go away with my husband and not worry about the mess I'd be leaving his Grandma to deal with if he won't eat or drink...did I mention I'm tired:-)
-he still has no words...I think he says "more" but it's more like "maaaaa"
-he points to everything and squeaks
-he gets into the cupboards constantly
-his favorite places in the house are in the refrigerator, the bathroom, and the kitchen (where he can get into aforementioned fridge and cupboards)
-he's back to sleeping all night. He did start waking up at night again, and since I sleep in the basement with him, he could see me in the bed, so he'd cry and cry and cry until I went and got him...I got fed up with this trick of his, so I started just taking my pillow and blanket to the couch in the family room and he goes right back to sleep..little stinker. Since doing this, he's sleeping all night, waking around 6 for some milk and then back to sleep until about 7:30. He slept until 8:20 this morning.
-he goes to bed around 7:00 now
-his favorite foods are pizza, grilled cheese, strawberries and Ritz crackers.
-he's obsessed with cell phones and if he sees David or myself with ours out, he throws a major fit until it's handed to him. The other day coming home from a friends, he cried until I handed it to him in the car..then he tucked it under his arm and went to sleep.
-he also likes to play with Avery's leapster.
-he takes 2 naps a day. Normally 1 1/2 - 2 hours in the morning and a 2+ hour afternoon nap
-size 3 diapers
-size 12-18 or 18 month clothes
-he waves "hi" a lot
-he has a new dance move that involves shaking his arm in front of himself
As I say every month..I'm sure there is more, but I am exhausted from this week and just can't seem to put together anymore rational thoughts. Forgive me.

Thanksgiving Happenings
We traveled to Iowa for Thanksgiving this year...as we do practically every year. This year, we didn't have as many dinners to go to, as my Grandma is in Colorado and my Dad didn't come back to Iowa from Wisconsin. While we missed seeing more of our family, it was nice to just be able to relax and not really have to rush from one place to another.
We went to my Mom's on Thursday for dinner. It was fun to see my brother and his wife, as she's pregnant and had some rough early weeks and was on bed rest. She's on modified rest now, hoping to make it as long as possible with our sweet little niece, due February 17th, 2010. Alivia was very interested in her tummy, and these are some cute pictures of the girls hoping to get a "kick" from their soon-to-be new cousin.

This is my sister, Nichole. She has 2 little ones. Jayden, is 2 days older than Alivia and Addison is 15 months old. This is her with Alivia.

My oldest and youngest.
On Friday, David (my brave and wonderful husband) took all 3 kids-BY HIMSELF-to Gowrie, IA (about 2.5 hours from New Hampton) to his Grandma's for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The kids did really great, and I'm so thankful that it went well.
Where was I, you ask? Well, Friday being my favorite shopping day of the year, I was up at 4am and headed to Waterloo/Cedar Falls for Black Friday shopping with my sister Kelly...and later meeting up with my sister, Nichole. We had a great time. I got about 90% of my shopping done. It was a very nice, relaxing day. (I'm sure you are thinking...shopping at the crack of dawn, oodles of people...relaxing...yeah, right!) But actually, I'm not that person that is fighting for the last cool toy or electronic device. I have a list and if I get that item on sale, great..if not, I was going to buy it anyway, so it's not that big of a deal. I did get a few of my "big sale" items, so I was pleased. I was even able to get back to New Hampton a few hours before David and the kids, and wrapped all the presents that I would need to have for Christmas in Iowa, and left them there. I'm so glad that I don't have to drag them back and forth this year.
We went to my stepmom's family for lunch on Saturday and then headed back to Chicago that afternoon. I wanted to be home on Sunday to get the Christmas decorations up and to have a day at home before the madness of the week started again.
I'm thankful we came back Saturday night, because Alivia woke up at 6am on Sunday vomiting...of course. She threw up every 20 minutes or so for about 3 hours...and then she was completely fine. She did take about a 3.5 hour nap (missing out on most of the Christmas tree decorating..but she didn't seem too disappointed) and was feeling 100% better later in the day. I hope it was just a little bug and nothing that is going to hang around for awhile.
Now, it's Monday morning and I'm listening to Connor down in his crib refusing to take his morning nap. This is not a good thing, as we have an extremely busy day today. Pick Avery up from school in 45 minutes, a super fast lunch and off to gymnastics. Right from gym to the dermatologist for some bumps on Avery's arm..then about an hour free and then to Connor's PT appointment. Pick Alivia up from school, figure out somewhere fast to go for dinner and then to swimming lessons..probably not returning home until 7:30. Ugh...I'm tired just thinking about it. David leaves for Florida tomorrow until Thursday, so I'm praying we can all stay happy and healthy while he's gone.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!

Trip to Chicago
Avery and Alivia have been asking constantly to ride the train somewhere. They know that Daddy takes the train to work every day and they wanted to take the train too. So, on Sunday, we decided to head to Chicago to check out some of the Christmas decorations. David took Avery and Alivia on the Metra while I drove with Connor in the car and met them downtown at the train station.
The girls really had fun. Alivia asked right away to go back on the choo choo train.
These pictures were taken in the Citibank building...where the metra comes in.
We then decided to head toward State Street by way of Daley Plaza to see the big Christmas tree. We were 2 weeks early, as the tree wasn't decorated yet, so that was a bit of a let down.
We did stop by Macy's (which will forever be Marshall Fields to me) and looked at their window displays.

After that we had a quick lunch and headed home..all in the car, as I knew the kids would be tired, and they were. I was a little surprised at how little downtown Chicago was decorated. There didn't seem to be a lot of festive decorations anywhere yet. I guess, it is before Thanksgiving, but normally cities are way early with that stuff. The weather was great, so it was nice to get out and walk a little bit, as I think going back down in December when it's cold will not be fun with the kids.
We did manage to get our few Christmas decorations hung outside yesterday, but David and I are both in agreement that we will not turn them on until after Thanksgiving.
Avery is off school all week and we will head back to Iowa on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing some family and of course, shopping on Friday. I honestly look forward to that day all year long.
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
Turn My Back for 1 Second

I know, you're probably thinking, MOVE THE CANDY! Ha. I just didn't have anywhere else to put it, but I finally got the Halloween/Fall decorations down yesterday, so that bowl has been put away and the candy has been put elsewhere.
Connor really enjoyed his sucker. And for the record, I don't normally allow my children to crawl around with a sucker in their mouth, so it was taken away after I took this video. I then spent the next 20 minutes cleaning up sticky finger and hand prints from all over the floor.
Alivia-Quote
Whenever you ask Alivia a question and she doesn't know the answer to it, her response is, "I can't know dat." I think that is so cute!
